A SAMPLE ITINERARY

Seven days, six nights, all at the base. This format exists for travelers who are already close: three hours by air from Miami or Fort Lauderdale, a short hop from Panama City, an escape for those already living in Chiriquí. When you have no three days of transit to absorb, a week in the Gulf of Chiriquí is a format that lands just right. We claim it as such.

Logistics fit in one morning. Albrook to David flight in the morning, pickup by a driver, the road, then boarding at the dock: forty minutes of navigation and the base is there, a private thirty-hectare property facing the archipelago. Those who prefer to arrange their own transport meet us directly at the dock. Either way, arrival in early afternoon, and the first outing can happen the same day.

Here, no fixed schedule. We leave at first light and come back when the fishing decides or when fatigue sets in. Meals adapt to fishing hours: local cooking, fresh produce, the day's fish. The water in the bay stays flat despite the open sea, and the feeding frenzies can be spotted with the naked eye from camp.

Five full days to alternate as the mood and the sea allow. Offshore boat runs for the pelagics. Landings on desert islands for wade fishing and spearfishing. Shore jigging from the camp beaches. A mangrove and river day for tarpon and snook. The short format does not shrink the terrain: it concentrates the time you spend on it.

Seven days forgive no improvisation. Every day counts, so everything is framed during the call that precedes the trip: what you want to fish first, what you accept to leave aside, whether to keep half a day for diving or walking. Once there, all that is left is to fish. And what cannot be decided invites itself: birds marking a feeding frenzy offshore, a toucan crossing at first light.

DAY BY DAY

Day 1

The direct switch

Albrook to David flight in the morning, driver, boarding at the dock. Base in early afternoon, first outing possible. Meeting at the dock for those coming on their own.

Days 2 and 3

Offshore and coast

Pelagics offshore depending on the weather, roosterfish and cubera on the coastal structures. Days are decided in the morning, on the terrace, facing the bay.

Day 4

Desert islands

Landing on an island of the archipelago. Wade fishing, spearfishing, a beach for the group alone. The name of the spot is decided on site, not on a web page.

Day 5

Mangrove and river

Tarpon and snook on the gulf's other register. Calm water, precise casts, silence.

Day 6

Last full day

What the group wants to do again, or what the sea has not yet given. Often kayak in the bay to finish.

Day 7

Return

Breakfast, boat back, driver, David to Albrook flight.

FISHING GEAR

Most of the anglers who come to us are experienced practitioners who arrive with their own gear, suited to their style and the species they target. Nothing to add in that case.

For those preparing their first exotic trip, we advise on the right equipment before departure. On site, high-end gear can be rented, and a stock of quality equipment can be lent depending on the outings. This is discussed case by case while preparing the trip.

SEASON

On the Pacific, the high season runs from December to May. It is the pelagic period: marlin, sailfish, wahoo, tuna, dorado. The rest of the year remains very fishable. The bay is protected and coastal fishing works year-round: roosterfish, cubera, jacks, corvina.

Over seven days, the December to May window maximizes the chances offshore. The rest of the year, the program refocuses on the coast, the bay and the rivers, with no dead time. It is also the format that fits most easily into a weather window: you come when the season gives.

OPTIONS

Local bivouac, nothing more to plan

One night on an island twenty minutes to an hour by boat from the base. Campfire, night fishing, lobster hunting depending on the mood. Nothing more to plan, other than your own sleeping gear: hammock or light tent, bag. To be mentioned while preparing the trip.

Montuosa or Jicarón expedition bivouac, built ahead of time

Thirty-six to forty-five nautical miles from the mainland depending on the island, Montuosa and Jicarón count among the most remote islands of Pacific Panama. Most boats reach them from well-known coastal stations, at the cost of long hours of navigation. Our base sits as close as it gets, facing the Coiba region: twenty minutes to reach Coiba, then the heading to Jicarón and Montuosa, offshore. Leaving from this close is what makes access to this zone exclusive. It remains a true expedition: two nights minimum, heavy logistics, specific equipment, substantial fuel. Costs adjust to the group configuration, personalized quote after a conversation. To be discussed while preparing the trip.
